The Jacksonville Business Journal hosted a virtual awards ceremony to highlight the companies who, although facing their own challenges during the pandemic, made major changes in their businesses to help those in need.
Renaissance Jax was one of those organizations highlighted for our work in producing PPE for first responders.
What steps did you take to either pivot or to meet the need you saw in the community?
So the great thing about Renaissance Jax is we have a really adept, skilled problem solving community around us; filled with manufacturers, filled with problem-solvers, filled with engineers and people who really just want to get things done. I got lucky aht USF Health reached out to us and said, ‘Mark, do you have three face shields? I know you guys make metal.’ And I said, ‘I think we can do a little bit better than that.’ Less than 24 hours after USF Health called, Coca-Cola donated 40,000 pounds of clear plastic to a bunch of people at a nonprofit that I'm connected to in Orlando. And they started to distribute all this clear plastic for face shields through a network of robotics program alumni.
