Renaissance increased our reach!
Renaissance Jax will be managing the FIRST LEGO League program in Central Florida as Renaissance CFL, which includes the counties of Volusia, Sumter, Lake, Polk, Osceola, Brevard, Orange, and Seminole. We now manage 28 counties of youth robotics, the largest program region in Florida.
We hosted three summer camp experiences in 2019; ROBOT BOOTCAMP TM , RJAX STEAM Powered Summer, and JEA and the Science that Makes the City Run.
Thanks to a grant from Kids Hope Alliance, the RJAX STEAM Powered Summer provided a compressed FIRST LEGO League experience to students ages 8-14 in combination with mask-making, performance choreography, and manufacturing. Many thanks to the Jacksonville Arts & Music School (JAMS) for providing venue space for our camp.
JEA and the Science that Makes the City Run provided a cohort of 24 Duval County high school students the opportunity to explore careers and tour facilities at JEA and experience a fast-paced version of FIRST Tech Challenge. The five weeks' experience concluded with a presentation and robot game matches at JEA.
FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge expanded from 48 teams to 60 teams each and the FIRST LEGO League Jr. Expo expanded from 25 teams to 38. This is the largest FIRST robotics event housing the FIRST progression of programs across two days in Florida. Next year, the FIRST Tech Challenge Florida State Championship will move to Central Florida, but Renaissance CFL will be present and continue to assist in hosting that event.
