- Who does Renaissance Jax/CFL serve?
In Northeast Florida, Renaissance Jax is proud to serve students in grades K-12 and in Central Florida we proudly support programming for students in grades K-8. Renaissance Jax/CFL deliver FIRST Robotics programs, the "Sport for the Mind". As students engage in non-competitive and competitive robotics, they develop a set of holistic skills that equips them to be the workforce of the future.
- Do I need experience to be a volunteer?
The beauty of FIRST is that no experience is necessary with options for technical and non-technical roles! All we ask is that our volunteers come with the heart to invest in our students, creative a positive, fun, and safe environment, and a willingness to learn. If you do sign up for a role that requires training, we'll help you every step of the way.
- Do I need to complete a background check?
Those 18 years or older are required to complete a Level 1 background check to ensure the safety of our students. Volunteers are not responsible for any costs or fees associated with background checks, but you do have the option to donate those costs back to FIRST.
- Can I sign up for more than one event?
Absolutely! Helping at multiple events allows a volunteer to increase their knowledge and experience of the program. Teams can then continue to expect high-quality events filled with knowledgeable volunteers.

- How much of a time commitment is it to volunteer for a day?
Event volunteers can expect to volunteer for one day, typically 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Some of the times might change based on the type of event, volunteer role, need and venue.

- How do I know what volunteer role is right for me?
Whether you have a few hours, a day or a weekend to help, have technical or non-technical expertise, there is an event volunteer role suited to your unique interest. Available volunteer positions vary depending on the program.
FIRST LEGO League Explore Roles (ages6-10)
- Do volunteer events happen throughout the year?
No, Renaissance Jax events typically run between the months of October through February. Depending on the program you are volunteering for will determine when you’ll participate.

- What should I wear to events?
Something comfortable! Renaissance Jax will provide you with a Volunteer t-shirt, but make sure you wear comfortable shoes – you’ll be standing/walking a lot!
